Cheri Clausen Bio

 

1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?

I attended College of Idaho (which has since been renamed Albertson College of Idaho).  I chose this school for its academic reputation and personal attention.

 

2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?

My entire 26 years of teaching having occurred at the elementary level (grades K-5) at the Ontario School District in Ontario, Oregon.

 

3. What is your current professional focus (job)?

I am the media/tech/TAG teacher which means I serve as librarian, technology teacher and talented and gifted coordinator at May Roberts Elementary in Ontario.

 

4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?

A friend and math colleague invited me to join OCTM after we had worked together on district curriculum.

 

5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?

I have served as an Area Rep for OCTM, as a district rep for curriculum alignment and textbook selection, as facilitator of my school's math cadre, and as a presenter of GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) workshops and other professional development opportunities for teachers.

 

6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?

I am passionate about pursuing my own curiosities and encouraging my students to recognize their curiosity as a path to learning.
