Area 6 Representative:   Inga Perham

 

1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?

I attended University of Tampa and majored in psychology and business management.  I went there to play volleyball.  I then attended National University in Fresno, California and earned my teaching credential.  My latest degree was a Masters in educational leadership from the University of Oregon.

 

2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?

I taught 2nd, 6th, and 8th grades in Dunlap, California for eight years.  I spent two years at Foster School in Sweet Home, Oregon.  I've spent the last ten years teaching middle school math in Pleasant Hill.

 

3. What is your current professional focus (job)?

My current job is teaching middle school math.

 

4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?

I attended Oregon Math Leaders for a few years and then became an Area Rep.

 

5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?

I have facilitated sessions at Oregon Math Leaders, scored math problem solving, mentored student teachers and shared my experience with the National Board Portfolio process with interested teachers.

 

6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?

Staying focused on caring about each student in my class.

 

7. What one word do you think best describes you?

Optimistic
