1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?
I attended Oregon State University. I choose OSU because at the time I planned on becoming an agricultural instructor and OSU has the only school of ag in Oregon.
2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?
I was a substitute teacher for middle school and high school in Canby and North Marion school districts for 20 years. For the last 5 years I have taught math at Tillamook High School.
3. What is your current professional focus (job)?
Teaching High School math.
4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?
I was at the Oregon Math Leaders conference and they were looking for a second person to represent Area 1 and I decided to volunteer for the position. I attended OML and become involved in OCTM in order to network with other math teachers throughout the state.
5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?
I am the Area I representative for OCTM. I have been involved with Math in CTE and I feel that I am the link between Tillamook High School and the rest of the math community in Oregon.
6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?
I am passionate about showing students the link between math and career technical education. We not only need to show the link in our classrooms, but also it is our duty to help CTE teachers become better at teaching math in their subject areas.
