1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?

Western Oregon (OCE then) because it was nationally ranked in education, in Oregon and affordable.

 

2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?

Cascade Middle School (1 sem.) and Rainier Middle School (2 yrs).

High Schools: Corbett (1 qtr), Dayton (4 yrs), Central (8 yrs), Sprague (1

yr), McNary (10 yrs so far) all math (a little computer science and

German)

 

3. What is your current professional focus (job)?

Advanced math and assessment - I'm the testing coordinator for McNary, all subjects.

 

4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?

Partly through my friend, Lynn Bonser, and for the support, friendship,

and opportunities for professional and personal growth.

 

5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?

I've served on the following for the Department of Ed:  Math Content Panel, Math Problem Solving scoring director, Item writing and Item Review, Standards Setting.  Most recently I accepted the Area 4 Rep position for OCTM.

 

6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?

Professionally, I'm passionate about math being accessible to everyone and about math being a living, breathing thing rather than just a difficult and dry subject.  Personally, I'm passionate about books,

movies, music, home improvement, family, friends.

 

7. What one word do you think best describes you?

Scintillating
