Molly Smith Bio

 

1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?

Pacific University in Forest Grove.  I thought I wanted to be a Physical Therapist, not to follow in my parents' footsteps as a teacher.  :-)

 

2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?

McCain Middle School—Grades 6-8;  Payette Primary School—Grade 2;  Enterprise Elementary—Special Education;  Powder Valley Elementary—Grade 2

 

3. What is your current professional focus (job)?

2nd grade teacher and 3rd grade math teacher at Powder Valley Elementary

 

4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?

My dad made me!  Just joking.  He was, however, a huge influence in getting me involved.

 

5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?

Area Rep; Vice President; Presenter of workshops; Math Content Panel

 

6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?

I love being a mom.  Two little boys keep me on the run.  And even though this sounds nerdy, I love learning.  Of course, I especially love learning math.
