1. Where did you go to college and why did you choose this school?

In the eighth grade, I chose Oregon College of Education because it was listed as one of the top education schools in the country.  It was Western Oregon State College when I got my Bachelors.  My Masters in Education is from George Fox University.

 

2. Where have you taught? What grade level(s)?

I have been in Clatskanie since 1985 where I have taught 4th – 8th and most recently first grade.

 

3. What is your current professional focus (job)?

I am currently teaching first grade at Clatskanie Elementary.

 

4. How and why did you get involved with OCTM?

I am currently teaching first grade at Clatskanie Elementary.  I was introduced to OCTM during my Columbia County Math Academy.  Through this I was invited to OML and I've been hooked ever since!

 

5. What kind of math leadership roles have you taken in the Oregon Math Community?

I'm just getting started!  I am Area 1 Rep and will be co-chairing OML for the next three years.  I have given math presentations for T.I.N.T., Oregon Small Schools and Columbia County.

 

6. What are you passionate about (personal or professional)?

I am passionate about helping elementary teachers overcome their fear of math.
