Explanation of Spreadsheet

The spreadsheet is meant to act as a template.  Data from the various locations at a single stoplight is entered on sheet 2.  The average is then automatically calculated and put in column K.

On sheet 1 the intersection is designated and all the stoplight positions are labeled.  Data is then entered in the following manner:

Column B – intersection width in feet (feel free to change to meters as desired)

Column C – speed limit in mph

Column D – the average perception/reaction + stopping distance at that speed (Note: this data can either be collected or referenced from several good websites on this topic, depending on the amount of time dedicated to this project)

Columns E through I – These columns are automatically calculated and filled

Feel free to modify or change the template to suit your particular needs.
